Rospatent will launch a service that allows inventors to check the patentability of an invention and assess its uniqueness
Speaking at the International Conference “Digital transformation: IP&AI trends” Rospatent Deputy Head Yury Zubov talked about the development of new information services that will provide applicants with more modern opportunities for IP objects registration, as well as improve internal working processes of the Office.
“We have developed a service called Similar Documents Search, which allows to carry out a search across the entire global patent fund on the basis of the description of a technical solution and to identify the closest relevant solutions to the claimed invention. So far, we have achieved around 60% - 70% of the relevant search results. We now strive to achieve a share of relevant search results above 80%”, noted Yury Zubov.
According to Yury Zubov, the service is currently being tested by experts of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property. Rospatent plans to launch it at the end of 2021. “It will be the first open, free, professional search platform that provides professional intelligent services based on artificial intelligence. It will allow one to check online the extent to which the technical solution meets the novelty requirement and whether the invention corresponds to the global trends in science and technology. This can be done at all R&D stages, from the moment of idea inception to the stages of registration and commercialization” Yury Zubov explained.
By the end of this year, Rospatent is planning to launch 11 new public information systems. They will also allow all Russian inventors, scientists and entrepreneurs to have access to the world patent fund.
