Cooperation Agreement between Rospatent and Crimean Council of Ministers

The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) and the Ministers Council of the Crimean Republic concluded a cooperation agreement. The document was signed by the Rospatent Head Grigory Ivliev and the Crimea Head Sergey Aksyonov.

Parties to the agreement specified their interest in bilateral activities development. This includes, inter alia, creating favorable economic, legal, and organizational conditions for the development of inventive, innovative and patent-licensing activities of Crimean enterprises; improving the effectiveness of federal and regional targeted programs and projects aimed at promoting science, innovation, and commercialization of IP; facilitating the development of regional brands; and improving training, capacity-building and awareness-raising activities.

Bilateral cooperation comprises the following activities:

• organizing thematic forums, conferences, seminars, working meetings, and other joint activities;

• facilitating the dissemination of information related to research and innovation;

• creating and implementing joint projects in the field of IP;

• supporting stimulus measures to establish and develop technology and innovation support centers in Crimea;

• ensuring larger access to specialized databases and other IP information resources;

• delivering training programs on patent research and information.

Innovation is a vital aspect of allowing Russia’s economy to be sustainable and healthy. Intangible assets and IP should be key factors in business growth. The signed agreement will promote the popularization of the legal protection and the IP use in Crimea. It is also the basis for various joint projects aimed at the economic development of the peninsula», said Grigory Ivliev.
